About Kayla...

I was born in Morris, Illinois USA in 1991. At the age of three I began dancing at a local dance studio (Carolyn's Toe n Tap)  learning ballet and tap together. After a few years I joined competition and then began learning other styles of dance. Styles including lyrical, pointe, jazz, hip hop, modern and a bit of tumbling.

At the age of sixteen, I moved away from home to study at a boarding arts school in southern California, Idyllwild Arts academy. There, is where I discovered my true love for movement. I then graduated in 2010 from Idyllwild Arts with "The most outstanding artists of the year" award!  I decided to travel to Holland to study for my BA in Dance Performance at Codarts Hogeschool voor de Kunsten.  At Codarts I had the opportunity to work with and perform pieces from well respected choreographers such as, Jens van Daele, Marta Reig Torres, Alida Dors, Jiri Kylian, Ed Wubbe, Andre Gingras, Hans van Manen, and Kriztina de Chatel.  I am currently working with Conny Janssen Danst as an intern, based in Rotterdam. I have performed 'How Long is Now' on tour from Oct 2013-March 2014 and performed in Conny's new production, 'Mirror Mirror' from June 28-July 20.

I am a versatile, strong, and energetic dancer who has a craving for movement and new experiences in the dance field. I am currently based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
